BSF Water Wing Recruitment 2026: Commandant, Deputy Commandant & Second-in-Command Posts

The Directorate General, Border Security Force (BSF) has invited nominations to fill Group ‘A’ Gazetted combatised posts in its Water Wing on a deputation basis. A total of 7 vacancies are open across three ranks — Commandant, Deputy Commandant, and Second-in-Command.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Commandant (Water Wing) – 03 Posts, Level 13

Officers currently serving in CAPFs, Central Government, State Government, Union Territories, or PSUs are eligible if they:

• Hold an analogous post; or
• Have completed the prescribed regular service in the relevant feeder pay level.

Candidates must additionally hold at least 3 years’ experience in Motor Transport, Water Wing, Special Repair Organization, or Central School of Motor Transport — or possess a degree in Mechanical, Automobile, or Marine Engineering.

2. Deputy Commandant (Water Wing) – 02 Posts, Level 11

Applicants must meet the standard analogous-post or regular-service norms, along with relevant experience in one of the following areas:

• Motor Transport
• Water Wing
• Special Repair Organization
• Central School of Motor Transport

A Bachelor’s Degree, or a three-year Diploma, in Mechanical, Automobile, or Marine Engineering is also required as per the official advertisement.

3. Second-in-Command (Water Wing) – 02 Posts, Level 12

Candidates should:

• Hold an analogous post; or
• Have the prescribed regular service in Level 11.

Relevant experience in Motor Transport, Water Wing, or Special Repair work, combined with a suitable engineering degree or diploma, is required.

Medical Requirement: All applicants, regardless of post, must hold medical category SHAPE-I to be considered eligible.

Deputation Tenure

Second-in-Command	2 years, extendable up to 4 years

Age Limit

The upper age limit for appointment on deputation to any of these posts is 56 years, reckoned as on the closing date for receipt of applications.
