Deputation Allowance for the Assistant Post

The SRFTI notice does not state a deputation allowance rate. It says pay is regulated under the DoPT deputation OMs mentioned above. Under those DoPT rules, an officer on deputation can draw either the pay of the deputation post, or the basic pay in the parent cadre plus Deputation (Duty) Allowance. Check the following with your parent office and SRFTI.

SituationRate of Deputation (Duty) AllowanceOriginal Ceiling (OM 24.11.2017)Ceiling After DA at 50% (+25%)
Deputation within the same station5% of basic pay₹4,500 per month₹5,625 per month
Deputation involving change of station10% of basic pay₹9,000 per month₹11,250 per month

Basis: DoPT OM No. 2/11/2017-Estt.(Pay-II) dated 24.11.2017, which says the ceilings rise by 25% each time DA rises by 50%. The revised figures are my calculation from that rule (4,500 × 1.25 and 9,000 × 1.25), as DA crossed 50% from 1.1.2024. Confirm the exact ceiling currently applied.

Illustration

If the basic pay in the parent cadre is ₹30,000, the allowance would be about ₹1,500 per month for the same station (5%) or ₹3,000 per month for a change of station (10%), both below the ceilings. This is only an example.

Other allowances: As per the notice, HRA, TA, CEA, LTC, Joining Time Pay, Travelling Allowance and Transfer TA are regulated by mutual consent of the lending and borrowing organisations, per the DoPT Office Memorandum. Dearness Allowance follows the pay drawn as per the rules.

Selection Process

  • Shortlisting of eligible applicants on criteria fixed by the Institute at the time of scrutiny
  • Shortlisted candidates may be called for a trade test, written test and/or interview, as applicable
  • The Institute may reject any application without assigning a reason, and may not fill a vacancy
  • Mere possession of the prescribed qualification does not entitle a candidate to be called, and no interim queries are entertained
